I remember when I saw Business Intelligence (BI) for the first time. It had to be 8-9 years ago, at a fancy event in a NY Hotel sponsored by Crystal Decisions the maker of Crystal Reports. It was right around the time they were acquired by a Business Objects a French Company that was later acquired by SAP.


Every year we are asked to pay an annual software maintenance fee for our business software to the publisher, usually Sage Software. This is not unique to Sage; all major software publishers require annual maintenance fees. You may have wondered at one time or another why you are required to pay this fee and how doing so benefits you.


A big drain of company resources and thus a very fertile ground for sensibly cutting operating costs is in document management or should I say document mismanagement. Without even realizing it, most companies waste many thousands of dollars every year filing, storing and then retrieving or recreating lost documents.
